Boloco - Inspired Burritos, Concord NH

Joshua Tilton - Monday, December 08, 2008
A week after the Fort Eddy Boloco opened, I stopped in to check it out. I had never heard of the restaurant chain before. If they didn’t have such a great slogan, “Inspired Burritos” I may have never stopped to try their food. I enjoyed the whole experience of eating there so much that I have decided to write this mini-review. image

The Interior Design

Boloco has made a obvious effort to incorporate recycled/renewable materials into the design of the Concord store. Since I have yet to go to any other stores, I can only assume since they have Certified Green status, the only locations use similar building materials. It is great to see that Boloco has made such a diligent effort to look beyond traditional interior products. image

The Service

During my first meal, I was impressed due to the speed of the staff. More importantly, they really seemed like they were enjoying themselves. Not in the sense that the staff all were all having a good time with each other, but that they enjoyed actually serving the customer. While I was eating, there was someone constantly cleaning the tables and floors, keeping the place spotless. Also, check out what the Consumerist posted on their website about Boloco CEO.

The Inspired Burrito

I ordered the "Cajun" wrap. It was fantastic. All the ingredients (Cajun spices, black beans, roasted corn salsa, sour cream, rice, flour tortilla, Chicken) were obviously fresh. They only use organic product. You can definitely taste the difference.

Original Art

I also found it fascinating that they commissioned an artist to paint scenes of Concord to be displayed in the restaurant! They are very well done and the artists style reflects town and company fantastically. My hats off to Boloco for going to extra mile to connect with area they are located. Hopefully as they continue to expand they don't stop having the original art.

Need Help Understanding SEO and SEM?

Joshua Tilton - Wednesday, December 03, 2008
As we have stated before on the Search Engine Marketing Overview page, A successful online presence requires the synergy of functional design and effective online marketing. This blog post is to help people who have never done any marketing online before. We have compiled a set of common terms and their definitions.

Search Engine Marketing ( SEM )

Any marketing activity involving a search site, including advertising on search result pages, paying for placement and/or Search Engine Optimization.

SEO Search Engine Friendly

A web page designed and optimized for high search engine rankings. Such pages are rich in keywords and structured for ease of crawling.

SEO Search Engine Optimization ( SEO )

Planning and adjusting the content of a web page in order to improve its position in natural search results, including modifications to code and displayed content.

PageRank

As defined by Google "PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page's value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves "important" weigh more heavily and help to make other pages "important."

Pay Per Click ( PPC )

The amount an advertiser pays an ad host (such as a site owner, search engine or ad network) each time a visitor clicks on the advertiser's link.

AdSense

Google's contextual advertising network. Publishers large and small may automatically publish relevant advertisements near their content and share the profits from those ad clicks with Google.
AdSense offers a highly scalable automated ad revenue stream which will help some publishers establish a baseline for the value of their ad inventory. In many cases AdSense will be underpriced, but that is the trade off for automating ad sales.

Reciprocal Link

A situation where two sites link to and from each other, though not necessarily to the pages that contain these links, usually the result of an agreement between the sites.

These deffinitions were all provided by the Seo Dictionary. Visit there to find a more.

Quality Assurance Testing

Joshua Tilton - Wednesday, November 19, 2008

We will be launching a whole new testing phase during website development immediately. We now have access to everything we need to:

  • Test the designs on _all_ browsers effectively
  • Track bugs through managed revisions
  • Generate fully detailed compatibility reports

We also will be applying more tools to email newsletter testing to make sure everyone gets your email unharmed. We run your email through a wide range of spam filters. From consumer desktop filters, to high-end gateway systems used by ISPs and large corporations. If your email doesn't pass them all, we will know exactly what caused the problem.

We will see your email exactly as your recipients will. For every applicable email client you'll be able to see the following:

  • Your email in the inbox
  • Check your subject line length, and what excerpt text the email client shows.
  • Your email in the preview pane
  • See how much content fits “above the fold”. Your email with images blocked
  • Almost all recent email clients block images. Check that your email still looks acceptable with and without images displayed.

As always, this is just one step further to offer great quality design and development to all our clients!

Most Inpirational Web Designs of 2008!

Joshua Tilton - Friday, November 14, 2008

While examining the traffic reports for Josh Tilton , I saw that that there were many new visitors coming from Crazy Leaf Design blog . That is great news, so I decided to further investigate.

They selected 40 websites that were released this year that they believed were the most inspirational and beautiful. The key here is that they selected the design. I didn’t submit it for their consideration. It’s a great honor and I want to thank the folks over at CLD !

We at Grip believe that is what helps position ourselves against other New Hampshire (NH) graphic design, website design and development companies. We help your site get recognized without much work on your end. Good design does get noticed. With online competition being so tough, why would you want to take a risk and not have a well designed website?
